Privacy Policy

Telehopper does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, and no tracking.

That is a short claim, so the rest of this page explains exactly what the app does instead, including the two places where something does leave your iPhone and why.

What stays on your device

The articles, PDFs and text you add, your queue, your listening position, and any summaries are stored on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. We cannot see them, because they are never sent to us. There is no account to log into and no copy on any server of ours.

One honest detail: because this data lives in the app's normal storage, it is included in your own iPhone backup if you have backups turned on. That backup is yours — it goes to your iCloud account or your computer under your own encryption, not to us.

Deleting Telehopper deletes this data with it. There is nothing for us to delete on your behalf, and nothing for us to restore.

Reading aloud

Telehopper reads to you using the voices built into your iPhone. Version 1.0 never uploads text to produce audio — synthesis happens on the device, which is also why it works with no signal.

Summaries

The short spoken summary is produced on your iPhone, by selecting the most representative sentences from the text you already have. No copy of the article is sent anywhere to generate it.

Links you share

When you share a web link into Telehopper, the app fetches that page directly from the website that hosts it, the same way a browser would. That request goes to that website, not to us — and, as with any browser request, that website can see your IP address. We receive nothing about it and keep no record that it happened.

Audio you send to someone

When you turn an item into an audio file to send to a friend, the file is created on your iPhone and handed to whichever app you choose to send it with. It does not pass through us. The person receiving it needs no account and nothing installed.

Apple's services

Telehopper is distributed through the App Store, so the app communicates with Apple's servers for ordinary App Store functions such as checking what you are entitled to. That exchange is between you and Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive information about you from it.

Purchases

Telehopper 1.0 is free and sells nothing inside the app. If a paid option is offered in a future version, it will be handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.

Children

Telehopper collects nothing from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Telehopper sends anything off your device, this policy will say so plainly, and it will say so before that version ships — not afterwards.
